Since its inception in 2001 Women of
Purpose Ministries has assisted and rehabilitated countless.
Women inspired by the organization’s mission have joined and
helped to expand its mission that began in Lakewood and continues to
grow, including overseas programs.
Women of Purpose Ministries (WOPM) is an independent 501(c)3
nonprofit organization creating real and lasting change for women and
children in need in Ocean and Monmouth Counties, New Jersey, and in
Liberia, West Africa.
Sarah Reed, WOPM’s founder and director, established the
organization in 2001 with the aim of reaching out to people in her
community here in the United States and Liberia, her native country.
In particular she recognized women are often the ones who suffer most
when confronted with crisis situations that include domestic violence,
civil strife, poverty and hunger.
Sarah’s inspiration stems from her own struggle in overcoming living a
life of poverty and is now giving back to her local and native
communities. Through WOPM she assists disadvantaged women and
children here in Ocean and Monmouth counties and Liberia West Africa.
Her work has touched and improved many people’s lives. She provides
women and children opportunities that allow them to reach their full
potential. WOPM’s programs provide them with skills, knowledge,
determination, and motivation needed to turn their lives around
towards a productive direction, eliminating poverty, dependency and
despair.
WOPM’s approach is to work with
women and families to define and solve their own problems their
children and communities face while using a broad array of strategies
to ensure self-sufficiency. This is the cornerstone of all Women of
Purpose’s programs. During the last 6 years, we have evolved into
a strong and powerful organization. Countless events and achievements
have shaped the development of our organization and helped change the
lives of the women children we serve. |
